Your Plan for Health Powered by Virgin Pulse
Alison Himes, Exercise Physiologist, MSEd

Virgin Pulse is an all-inclusive wellness portal available to you as faculty or staff at The Ohio State University. No matter what your goals may be, Virgin Pulse can be customized for you to achieve your personal wellness goals.

After logging in at https://yp4h.osu.edu/ (by clicking YP4H in red in the top right) you’ll see your dashboard. Your dashboard shows you at the top how many points you’ve earned and an overview of the levels for the quarter. On the left side, you’ll see your check list for the day.

Here are some tips that can help you to be successful in achieving Your Plan For Health’s incentive levels.

Complete Daily Cards and Healthy Habits:

Completing your cards and healthy habits is a great way to start your day strong and earning in Virgin Pulse. I start my morning every day by logging in to Virgin Pulse and checking my daily cards and completing my daily habits right after my alarm goes off. I start my day every day having earned 85 points from this quick check-in and it only takes less than 1 minute. If this is the only task you did for the quarter, just one minute per day, you’d almost be to level 3 by the end of the quarter by doing nothing else.

Mindfulness with Whil:

If you’re interested in earning more, practicing mindfulness with Whil is an excellent way to earn more points in Your Plan For Health. Whil has three different programs, Emotional Intelligence, Mindfulness and Yoga. The Emotional Intelligence program has 17 five-minute sessions that both educate and provide the opportunity to practice emotional intelligence skills. The Mindfulness program has nine calming and energizing five-minute sessions that teach the basics of mindfulness practice. The Yoga program is video-based and has nine 20-minute yoga videos offering basics to get started and the videos include modifications for both experienced and novice yoga practices. If you build a five-minute Whil program into your daily routine, you can earn 50 points per day for practicing. I like to play Whil recordings while I’m driving in my car on my way to work. These points add up, but more importantly, I feel relaxed and mindful to start my day for work each day.

To use Whil, access through the web through Virgin Pulse. You can log in by navigating to https://yp4h.osu.edu/, click ‘log in to YP4H’ in the top right corner – the red button. After you’ve logged in, and authenticated using Duo, click on ‘programs’ at the top. Next, click ‘all programs’ and scroll to the bottom to find the three different Whil programs. To access Whil on mobile, follow the same steps and for easier access, download the Whil app and log in to connect it with your YP4H account.
